Device Support Engineer

The Device Support Engineer is responsible for the analysis, design, development, and verification of network analysis and management features in the “back-end” of the company’s “NetMRI” – a Linux-based appliance. In particular, the primary responsibility is to add support for 3rd party network devices into the NetMRI.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze data from 3d party network devices, and determine how to map that information into the NetMRI model;
• Create software written in Perl, XML, MySQL, and other languages, as needed;
• Develop unit tests for automated continuous integration and regression testing;
• Work directly with customers to validate that the device support works within the customer’s environment and with the device’s configuration;
• Work closely with other engineers to accomplish and document shared objectives;
• Work with QA to ensure device simulation test-beds model the newly added devices as faithfully as possible.

Skills & Experience:


• 3+ years’ experience in software development with demonstrated experience in delivering quality code as part of a full Software Development Life Cycle environment;
• 3+ years of working knowledge of Linux;
• 2+ years’ of Perl development;
• 2+ years’ experience in writing and reading complex regular expressions;
• Demonstrated understanding of Network Essentials (OSI model, Network device types, etc., TCP/UDP);
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Four year degree in CS, CE, EE, or other technical field such as math, physics or engineering;
• Results oriented, solid work ethic with excellent attention to detail and quality.

Preferred or Strong Plus:

• Experience writing Perl in Object Oriented form;
• Experience with network management and SNMP;
• Networking certificates: CCNA or higher;
• Experience with SQL development;
• Experience with XML;
• Experience with Ruby.
