The mission of this role

This is a practical engineering position: you architect and build solutions hands-on, collaborating directly with Infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams. Management experience is neither required nor expected.

Key objectives

• Reinforce cloud and infrastructure security through direct implementation: secrets management, audit logging, and controlled production access.
• Address high-impact risks: begin with a candid evaluation of the current state and progressively build a coherent view of gaps and risks.
• Deliver secure-by-default outcomes: wherever feasible, lift the security burden from teams through automation and platform-level controls instead of policies and manual steps.
• Get deeply involved: immerse yourself in what Infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams are building today, understand it from within, and embed security into the process.

Job requirements

• Proven track record of building platform and infrastructure security — you have personally designed and delivered security solutions, not just audited or monitored them, and you can walk us through the architecture, the trade-offs, and what you would change in hindsight.
• Cloud security as your core strength. Recent hands-on experience protecting cloud environments.
• A solid infrastructure foundation. You may have grown entirely within security engineering or transitioned into security from DevOps, SRE, system administration, or network engineering. The key point is that you think like an engineer: architecture first, building over prescribing.
• The ability to communicate risks with evidence. You have concrete examples where you helped technical teams grasp why a risk matters and why a change is necessary — using evidence, architecture, and real-world scenarios.

AppSec, SIEM, and SOC experience are helpful but secondary.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure-as-Code in practice.
• Container and Kubernetes security experience.
• Scripting and automation as second nature: Python, Go, or Bash — you prefer automating a control over writing a procedure for people to follow.
• GCP specifically. Our stack is GCP; deep familiarity with it will accelerate your path to impact, though strong AWS/Azure experience transfers well.
• Experience with securing AI tool usage.

• Your specialization is threat research, malware analysis, cryptography, or lab-oriented cybersecurity.
• Your recent work has been predominantly paper security: policies, compliance documentation, and audits.
• You are seeking a management track or ownership of a security function right now — strategy and team building fall under the security leadership role we are hiring for separately.
